First Lady Obama launches Healthier Kids program

First Lady, Michelle Obama launched a new program this week. It is aimed at getting kids active, its called Let's Move. Within that is says that kids need 60 minutes of activity a day, even in winter. Adults need 60-90 minutes daily.

Remarks have been made that a city that is safe for kids to play in is a city safe for everyone.

The highlighting by the First Lady makes childhood obesity a top agenda within the US Government. We all think that the US is the one that has a problem. However the facts are far from that. Canada matches or overtakes the US with childhood and adult obesity. The cooler climate in Canada can make for some challenging situations, however remember your childhood. Did you play outside in winter? Winters in Golden have only gotten warmer since the early 1960's.

What do you want your child's future to be? A happy healthy one, full of exercise and good eating. Or spent watching TV and video games.
