Earlier this morning, January 25, Golden RCMP and BC Ambulance Services attended a collision in which a single vehicle struck a pedestrian at an intersection in Golden.
At approximately 8:10 a.m., a 13-year-old girl was walking to school along 9th St. S. As she was crossing 11th Ave. S., a van which had already stopped at the stop sign, proceeded north bound into the intersection and struck the girl as she was crossing the street. The girl was pushed across the intersection. She then fell down and went under the van. The driver stopped immediately and the police and ambulance service were called.
Miraculously, the girl was not injured. She was checked by BC Ambulance attendants, released at the scene and went home with her mother. She appeared to be shaken up, but was in good spirits.
Several witnesses stayed on scene and assisted the police by providing statements. The driver, who was also quite shaken up by the incident was issued a violation ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian.
No names are being released.
